The song topped the singles chart for seven weeks after its release and topped the Billboard Hot 100 for four weeks. Surely this was the ultimate success of the first generation girl group of the 90s that became a legend for fans as well as the generation of the time. Spice Girls meet Prince Charles
A very special moment in May 1997 when the Spice Girls got the chance to meet Prince Charles before their royal party performance to celebrate the Prince’s Trust charity. What we find very interesting here is that Prince Charles has shaken their hands with something extremely rare for any celebrity. Mel B even placed a kiss on the cheek that imprinted the lipstick mark before Geri did the same. This has broken many rules of royal etiquette and so far no one other than the band has been able to behave like that to the future king of England.
Spice World – The Movie
Who would have thought that the group would also try to enter a new field, which is acting in movies? Although the film did not receive much critical acclaim, the film grossed over $100 million worldwide. This certainly proves how influential the Spice Girls are to the public, and it also marks a new achievement for the group in the movie industry.
Spice Girls with Messages against Sexism
The group conveys very meaningful messages about girl power and they always inspire us not to be sexist and to fight against patriarchy. This is demonstrated in a video on Twitter during the Polaroid campaign. Mel B spoke up to the director when she wondered why he asked the girls to wear school uniforms with their breasts showing more cleavage before Geri calls him a ‘chauvinistic pig’.
The Spice Babies
2008 marked a new milestone when the girls returned and performed together on a world tour. But what is very special here is that at that time, all but Mel had children of their own and they were no longer alone in this tour with the appearance of their new child members.
The Spice Girls Performance at the 2012 Olympic
One of the most memorable moments was when the girls performed for the closing ceremony of the London Olympic 2012. They climbed into the top of the car and performed a series of their biggest hits while circling the stadium with cheers of thousands of people.
