Buckingham Palace issued its first statement, on behalf of the Queen, since Prince Harry and Meghan’s tell-all interview. Their response comes more than 36 hours after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex made a series of accusations against the royal family.

The statement reads that “The whole family is saddened to learn the full extent of how challenging the last few years have been for Harry and Meghan”.

It also read that “while some recollections may vary, they are taken very seriously and will be addressed by the family”, as a response to the racism pointed out during the interview. Finally, it added that “Harry, Meghan, and Archie will always be much loved family members.”

According to CNN, the family waited to respond until the interview had aired in the UK. Their source also added that it was important for The Firm to carefully consider their response before issuing the statement.

Prince Charles also made his first appearance in public but didn’t answer any questions from the media in regards to the interview.
