After two years of dating, even though it did seem longer, Shawn Mendes and Camila Cabello have called off their relationship.

Since July of 2019, Shawn and Camila have been linked together, after years of friendship first. The ‘couple’ had been friends for a while and even wrote a song together in 2015 titled ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer.’ Since the connection in 2015, it only took them another 4 years to release another song titled ‘Signorita’ a very popular hit in the summer of 2019 and that is when relationship rumours began.

Since dating, many people either loved or hated the relationship between Shawn and Camila, many called it weird and some just thought they weren’t a match. In 2020, as the pandemic hit, Shawn stayed in lockdown in Miami with Camila and her family and that is when things got weird.

Photos surfaced of the pair going on daily walks and many ‘wondered’ what happened to the couple and if what they were doing was a charade. Since then, the couple has made public appearances, posted on Instagram and has made their relationship a very public one. The two most recent being the 2021 Met Gala, where Shawn showed up shirtless in leather and Camila wore a purple dress.

From the outside, the relationship looked as normal as ever, but yesterday Shawn and Camila both posted a message on their Instagram stories that made everyone this it was April Fools Day.

The message was very informal and seemed a bit rushed and much like a joke. After seeing the way these two heald their relationship so dearly, the message did not make sense.

Shawn and Camila shared the message which said,

Hey guys, we’ve decided to end our romantic relationship but our love for one another as humans is stronger than ever ❤️ We started our relationship as best friends and will continue to be best friends. We so appreciate your support from the beginning and moving forward ❤️❤️❤️

As this message does seem a bit off, I guess they just wanted to keep it short, sweet and to the point.
