Buddy Valastro – A.K.A. the Cake Boss – has finally heard our sweet-toothed prayers and made our dreams come true: Carlo’s Bakery just opened its first Canadian location! Based just outside Toronto, the hit bakery is a must-go-to if you are a cake lover.

Most people are pretty familiar with – or have, at least, heard of – the name Buddy Valastro, correct? The pastry chef leading TLC‘s acclaimed reality TV series “Cake Boss“, is the legend behind the extremely popular American cake shop Carlo’s Bakery. Founded by Carlo Guastaferro in 1910, the bakery, originally based in Hoboken – New Jersey, was purchased by Bartolo Valastro – Buddy’s father – in 1964.

Buddy, who comes from a traditional Italian ancestry, has been running the bakeshop along with his four older sisters and three brothers-in-law. If you have always been crazy about trying out Cake Boss’ to-die-for masterpieces – just like we have – this one’s for you: Carlo’s Bakery finally opened its doors in Canada! Carlo’s Bakery had previously stepped in Toronto when it installed cake vending machines around the city, which were a huge success, always selling out.

Officially inaugurated on January 4th, the address chosen for its very first Canadian branch is located right in the GTA, at 167, Lakeshore Rd. W., in Port Credit, Mississauga. The 3,200 square feet store serves its most iconic seven-layer cakes, and you can either choose from the available flavours or have it custom ordered. Besides its favoured range of sweets such as cannoli, butter cookies, cupcakes, lobster tails, pies, gelato, and donuts, customers can taste other baked goods like the signature New York-style pizza slices, mozzarella sandwiches, and hot drinks.

Inside the store, pastries and goodies are displayed on glass shelves in a sprawling counter with tiled flooring and a marble wall where a chandelier and a neon sign hang. Customers can watch chefs as they work on their magic in the show kitchen or pick up something very quickly at the grab-and-go counter. There is even a printed-out version of Buddy holding a Canadian-themed cake and a large TV constantly playing “Cake Boss” episodes. Outside, the cute patio is a nice scenario to sit back and enjoy a delicious treat.

According to Buddy Valastro, his “father would be so proud to know his traditional recipes are making their way up to Canada”. Moreover, Carlo’s Bakery’s owner stated that “with the ongoing success of our nationwide shipping in Canada at carlosbakery.ca, we are so excited to bring our world-famous desserts to Canada with a retail bakeshop and becoming part of the community”. Valastro himself is reportedly intending to make his way out to his Canadian store during the upcoming weeks or, in his words, “Hoboken style North, baby!”.
