24 hours may seem like a long time, but sometimes not enough, when it comes to global issues like climate change, poverty and vaccine inequality. The Global Citizen Festival is a concert performed on all 7 continents and brings awareness to defend the planet and too defeated poverty.

Celebrities of all careers come together to say their part and participate in helping raise awareness for both the charities of Global Citizen and their own. Coldplay, Billie Eilish and Ed Sheeran are some of many musicians that have performed at this year’s festival.

Since 2012 the Global Citizen Festival has taken place in New York, last year was the first time the festival did not happen in person due to COVID-19. The pandemic may have slightly stopped the festival, but many celebrities took this as a moment to bring people together, so the festival took place via video chat and live streaming.

As the year took a massive toll on the world, this brought another issue to the Global Citizen stage and that is vaccine inequality. After a year of lockdown, loss and medical changes, Global Citizen and its changemakers are coming together to spread the awareness. People like Prince Harry and Megan Markel shared their stance on the vaccine and spoke to the festival viewers about the importance of the vaccine.

The 24-hour festival opened under the Eiffel Tower in Paris, then moved to New York City and many other places around the world. Musicians like Coldplay, Billie Eilish performed together, while Ed Sheeran, Lizzo, JLo and many many artists performed on their own for the different crowds from different places.

The Global Citizen festival not only is a place to bring awareness but also a place to bring the world together, especially in times like right now, bringing people together, providing a safe place to feel comfortable, feel safe and bring happiness.
