As one of the upcoming fashion cities, Copenhagen Fashion Week did not disappoint in showing its incredible fashion scene. Notably, the Copenhagen street style scene added a level of coolness and excitement to the growing fashion landscape. If New York fashion week street style is all about fame and excess, then Copenhagen fashion week street style is all about pragmatic eclecticism. It is all about showing off without actually showing off. It is understated, unique and oozes unattainable That Girl lifestyle. These are the cooler kids we’re talking about! They are so cool that picking only one trend to talk about was a challenge in itself. In the end, the ultimate winter accessory that’s slowly making a strong comeback won—-scarves. If there’s one thing we East Coasters and the Danes know how to do is to dress affably cool under the harsh winter skies. Below are some creative ways you can wear a scarf according to Copenhagen’s street style stars.  

Scarf So Big It Drags On The Floor

Let’s start with the easy task of acquiring yourself a large knitted scarf—-preferably with tassels so long that you can drag on the floor. Either wrap it around your neck for the ultimate warming effect or drape it on your shoulder to serve as a pop of colour to your otherwise monotone winter outfit. Speaking of pop of colour, acquire one in a bold hue. Cobalt blue is huge this season. A cashmere scarf like this one from Nordstrom will do, but a large plaid scarf (like this one from Free People) is closer to the Copenhagen style. 

Headscarves And Other Alternatives

Headscarves are making a comeback. It is no longer only trendy in your aunt’s circle; your next-door trendy neighbour is donning one right as you’re reading this. And since it’s back to being trendy, cool girls everywhere (your neighbour included) have made it their mission to incorporate it in every outfit imaginable. Neckerchiefs But Cooler

Glad to report that neckerchiefs (the chic Parisian way) are also making a comeback and the bandana-kerchief-in-a-hipster-dude-way is still left in the dark recesses of modern fashion history. I’d say that’s a win for us girls. Although there have been hints of Indie Sleaze comeback, the 2013s are not back just yet. In 2022, neckerchiefs are chicer and less, well, hipster.
