“When a crisis hits, it doesn’t affect us equally or in the same ways.
⁣⁣

The current unprecedented outbreak of COVID-19 affects everyone but it’s especially challenging for low-income families, homeless individuals, women experiencing violence and abuse, marginalized persons, and those with pre-existing medical conditions and mental health issues. Women are at grave risk of being affected – exasperating gender, social, and economic fault lines. Some groups will feel this public health issue uniquely and more than others. These groups are disproportionately at risk and when another layer is added onto these experiences – traumas and disparities only intensify. ⁣

In the event of a public health emergency and our collective safety depending on our ability to have a decent place to quarantine or isolate in, issues of inequality, health care, housing, and domestic abuse become more evident. ⁣⁣Social services are needed more than ever, all the while facing staff and essential shortages. ⁣⁣⁣⁣

Our mission is to help those with the greatest need through a gender-sensitive response – their health, safety, and well-being have always been our priority. We’re committed to being both responsive and responsible to our local community while ensuring we do our part for global welfare. We are collecting new reusable menstrual products, incontinence pads, and new sanitary pads for marginalized menstruators in our community. There is also a need for baby items such as baby cereal, diapers, toilet paper, and baby wipes. For safety and health reasons, we can only accept new donations. Please consider donating during this precarious time to assist the most vulnerable citizens in our community. We also encourage everyone to reach out to the women in their lives to check on their well-being. If you are in need of immediate assistance, contact this crisis line: Toll-Free: 1-866-863-0511 or text #SAFE (#7233). If you are in need of a helpline that connects you to local services, contact 211. If you know anyone that is experiencing homelessness, contact 311.

Please get in touch with us via email or DM on how you can donate to us this week. Our team will be providing local aid deliveries to our partnered organizations. Kindly note that we are doing our part by taking extra precautions with the handling and purchasing of these items. Thank you for your continued kindness and generosity! Your commitment to an equal world is more vital than ever.

The responsibility to protect our most vulnerable and their basic needs belongs to all of us.”
