With more time being spent at home, how important is it to maintain a healthy hair care routine? What are some simple things we can do to improve our hair care routines and overall hair health?

Staying at home can have us all feeling lazy, however, it’s the perfect time to work on hair health. Stay away from tight elastics and getting caught in the messy-bun trap which can often lead to breakage from all the tension from wrapping. Also, lay off your hot tools if they’re not necessary. You wouldn’t keep ironing a shirt that’s hanging up waiting for a fun night out, so give your tresses a break from hot tools until you need it. When you’re home with your face mask off, think about masking up your hair. I guarantee you that it is way more fun and with instant results.

How do I determine the best products/tools to use for my hair type?

I always recommend speaking to your professional stylist to know what products are right for your hair type and texture.

Any tips for repairing dry, damaged hair?

amika’s new Kure products (my go-to is The Kure Multi-Task Repair Treatment), which offer nearly instant repair and strengthening benefits with the clinical results to back them up. For our blondes, if your hair is overprocessed, brittle and brassy, amika’s new Bust Your Brass Intense Repair Mask is ultra-conditioning, your ends will feel especially invigorated after the first use.

What is a must-have hair care product or tool everyone should invest in?

I always recommend a leave-in conditioner that contains ingredients for thermal protection to shield hair against damage caused by using hot tools and will most likely also contain ingredients that protect against environmental elements.

Every time that I try to grow my hair longer, it just looks dry and dead! If I want long, healthy locks, what should I do?

It seems like you may get nowhere with frequent trims, however, it is one of the healthiest ways to grow your hair out—slow and steady wins the race. In addition, be sure to always keep your ends hydrated. Use a protective cream like amika’s Blockade Heat Defense Serum when doing any heat styling and use a weekly mask treatment, like Soulfood Nourishing Mask.

What are some of the latest products consumers can expect from the brand?

amika is majorly upgrading its blonde collection, as it reformulated one of its best-selling wash duos, Bust Your Brass Cool Blonde Repair Shampoo and Conditioner, to be formulated with bond cure technology, vegan proteins and plant butter, the same ingredients found in its recently relaunch Repair Collection products, with added ultra-violet pigments to tone brassiness out of hair. Entirely new to the collection is the ultra-violet Bust Your Brass Intense Repair Mask, which is meant to be used as a weekly treatment to condition and add intense hydration. These new Bust Your Brass products have all been clinically proven to repair, strengthen, hydrate and tone your hair and are vegan friendly.
