The NHL All-Star weekend was full of surprises, from Edmonton Oilers star Connor McDavid losing in the Fastest Skater Challenge and some Breakaway Challenges with theatrical flair.

Let’s look at the event competition winners and the best highlights from the fun-filled weekend in Las Vegas!

Fastest Skate

Edmonton Oilers star, Connor McDavid was favourited in this competition after winning in 2017, 2018 and 2019 but Jordan Kyrou of the St. Louis Blues swept this competition with a time of 13.550 seconds.

Save Streak

Tampa Bay Lightning star goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy and Toronto Maple Leafs goaltender Jack Campbell teamed up and gave the Atlantic Division a win in the Save Streak challenge. This dynamic duo had a combined total of nine straight saves!

Fountain Face-Off

In the first-ever edition of Fountain Face-Off, one of the most unique events in NHL All-Star Weekend history, the event took place in the middle of the iconic Bellagio fountains. Players had to shoot five pucks into five targets in the least amount of time. Zach Werenski from the Columbus Blue Jackets took the win in this competition in the final round at 25.634s.

21 in ‘22

Another new event this year was the 21 in ’22 event. Taking place on the Las Vegas strip, five players faced a full deck of oversized cards where they had to hit a puck and reach 21 in the fewest number of shots possible, which you may notice is very similar to blackjack.

Dallas Stars, Joe Pavelski could not miss and was the winner of this fun new event!

Hardest Shot

Tampa Bay Lightning Defensemen Victor Headman won this year’s Hardest Shot competition with a whopping 103.2 mph slap shop.

Breakaway Challenge

Vegas Golden Knights defenseman Alex Pietrangelo won the Breakaway Challenge. Some might argue that Trevor Zegras from the Anaheim Ducks should have taken the gold in this competition. Recreating a scene from Dodgeball Zegras wore the “Average Joes” jersey and an eye covering, mixed with his mind-blowing stickhandling it is hard to believe he did not take the W!

Accuracy Shooting

Carolina Hurricanes star Sebastian Aho took home the win in the Accuracy Shooting challenge by managing to hit all four targets in 10.937 seconds, he did not miss a single shot!

Another huge highlight of this weekend was a one-of-a-kind performance by the one and only Machine Gun Kelly with a special guest appearance from Megan Fox.
