Talk to us about Rodan + Fields–what is the story behind the brand and how did it start? 

Rodan + Fields was founded in 2000 by Stanford-trained dermatologists, Dr. Katie Rodan and Dr. Kathy Fields, who also founded Proactiv. They had the vision to launch Rodan + Fields after hearing countless numbers of patients in their dermatology practices express disappointment with not seeing visible results they desired, despite their skincare routines. Additionally, they saw a larger variety of skin concerns that were impacting their patients beyond acne. As practicing dermatologists with decades of product development expertise, Dr. Katie Rodan and Dr. Kathy Fields sought to create efficacious, easy-to-use skincare solutions that addressed core skin concerns, like fine lines and wrinkles, acne, skin discoloration, and sensitive skin, that would deliver visibly transformative results through a “derm-to-doorstep approach”. You recently unveiled breakthrough innovations in skincare with SOOTHE and REVERSE Regimens featuring the Multi-Med Therapy approach. How does this approach differentiate R+F from other brands? 

Rodan + Fields’ unique Multi-Med Therapy approach takes the guesswork out of selecting a skincare routine. Instead of cherry-picking products in the hopes of achieving results, each step is clinically formulated and tested to work synergistically to deliver visibly transformative results. Skin is not one-dimensional, and the origin of all skin concerns is complicated. Can you share the details of the SOOTHE Regimen and how it works to improve skin redness and irritation? 

SOOTHE Regimen is specifically designed for those with sensitive, visibly red, dry, irritated skin. The 4-step Regimen works to replenish, nourish, and fortify skin’s moisture barrier to improve dry scaly, patchy skin. The first step, SOOTHE Calming Gel Cleanser is a rich, calming cleanser that gently lifts and removes impurities in the skin, including makeup. It’s formulated with Glycerin and Bisabolol to help strengthen the skin’s moisture barrier while calming dry, irritated skin and reducing visible redness. The next step, the SOOTHE Sensitive Skin Treatment, contains proprietary RFp2 Peptide Technology to soothe skin, skin protectants Allantoin and Dimethicone, and Cherimoya Fruit Extract to help calm stressed skin. This step works to instantly reduce the appearance of redness and feelings of itchiness and discomfort, protects skin from drying effects of wind and cold weather, and moisturizes to calm effects of dry, irritated, and blotchy skin after exposure to UV, pollution, & everyday stressors. SOOTHE Moisturizing Cream, step 3 of the Regimen, is formulated with 7 Essential Ceramides and Colloidal Oatmeal to replenish and fortify the skin’s natural moisture barrier to seal in hydration and defend against sensitivity, environmental aggressors, and irritants. In the AM, SOOTHE Daily Mineral Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30 is the last step of the Regimen. It is a mineral-based sunscreen that works to protect skin against UVA/UVB rays that can worsen the effects of sensitive skin. With the impact of mask-wearing on the skin during a long lockdown period, SOOTHE Regimen couldn’t have come at a better time.

Can you also walk us through the latest REVERSE Regimen and how it is designed and formulated to prevent darkness and discolouration? 

REVERSE Regimen is a simple 3-step skincare Regimen that corrects and prevents the appearance of dullness and discoloration including dark marks, sunspots, and unwanted freckles. The REVERSE Regimen works to perform at the optimal time of day for better than ever results. Starting with the REVERSE Deep Exfoliating Cleanser, this skin-brightening cleanser buffs, and micro-refinishes the skin’s surface for a more radiant appearance. Formulated with physical and chemical exfoliants, Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, and Jojoba Esters + Polylactic Acid, it works to remove dulling surface cells and prompt the skin’s surface cell turnover. Next, is the brightening and skin-softening REVERSE Intensive Brightening Toner, which is formulated with Niacinamide, Sodium Hyaluronate, and Licorice Extract to minimize visible discoloration on the skin for a radiant, luminous complexion. This gentle yet intensively effective skin prep solution targets the appearance of skin discoloration, softens the look of dark spots, and increases the efficacy of the steps that follow. In the AM, REVERSE Brightening Defense Fluid Lotion SPF 50 follows the toner. Following toner in the PM routine, the REVERSE Tone Correcting Treatment is a nighttime complex that combines the brightening power of 10% stabilized Vitamin C with the revitalizing strength of our retinoid technology – proprietary Retinal MD and Kojic Acid into one boosted formula to visibly even skin tone and minimize the appearance of dark spots and brown spots.
