Get to know the renowned professional dancer turned TikTok star and all of the exciting projects she has in the works!

Today, HOLR had the opportunity to sit down and chat with the esteemed professional dancer. We discuss her journey to TikTok stardom and all of the exciting projects she has coming out this year. Enola Bedard is definitely one to watch!

It’s so great to meet you! Tell our audience a little bit about yourself and your success story to becoming a renowned professional dancer, choreographer, and TikTok star.

Enola– I first started dancing when I was 13 years old.  I was just doing some dance competitions at a dance school in Quebec City. Then, I won a scholarship to go to Los Angeles and I absolutely fell in love with L.A.

When I was around 18, I quit college because I wanted to focus on being a dancer and an actress. I would go back and forth from L.A. to Canada to train as much as I could. I would take 5 classes a day for 3 months and it was hard training but it was so worth it and I worked super hard.

Once the pandemic happened, I didn’t know what to do. I trained so long to be a dancer but then everything shut down all of a sudden. That’s when I decided to take advantage of the situation and create as much content as I could while using TikTok as a platform because it was really blowing up at the time and reaching so many people. That’s when I thought to myself, maybe this is my time!

I started in May 2020 and I did it because I had so much fun. Then, I had the idea to start dancing in public- which no one was doing – and I went to a mall with my mom. That video blew up! It got 30 million views in 2 days and I panicked, but since then my whole life changed completely! I still don’t understand how this happened, honestly, but I’m so grateful.

I am still in the process of finding new ideas for content and keeping the rhythm going. Today, it has been a year and a half later and I have 13 million followers on TikTok, 1.6 million on Instagram, and almost a million on YouTube!

Your videos are incredible! Can you talk to us about what it’s like to go viral on TikTok and what some of your favourite performances/videos are to date?

Enola– The first time that I went viral, it was really intense. I never went through something like that in my entire life, and I actually remember the date. It was August 28, 2020. I basically posted that first video and I just left my phone alone. An hour later I had so many notifications. I almost had a million views after an hour and I thought, “What is going on?” That was insane and so amazing!

I called my mom to tell her I was going viral and then I started to go through the comments. There were some positive, and some negative. I didn’t know how to handle that. Did people like me or not? After a while, I thought to myself that if I like what I am putting out there then that’s all that matters. That’s fine with me! It took me a while to get past that but now I’m just having so much fun! It was definitely stressful going viral but it was also so exciting. This is because you’re seeing the videos that you worked so hard on getting recognized by people.

One of my favourite videos is probably the first one I created, which was a remix to “Crazy in Love,” that I choreographed. I love to dance so much. Seeing other people doing it after is just the best feeling ever. I am also proud of all of the TV dance covers that I do. I recently created one on a Royal Family performance at Royal Dance that went super viral, which is insane! The one I also made on Hollywood Blvd got 110 million views which is the most viral I have ever got!

How has your experience with social media inspired the type of content you put out?

Enola– I am still very new to the social media world. When I first started in May, I just used to post whatever I wanted and I didn’t care much about engagements. I didn’t even realize that it could be work, because right now, it is my full-time job and I love what I do!

It inspires me so much to stay consistent. It really has helped my creative abilities so much. I love that it pushes me to create new and unique content. For instance, if there is a song that is trending, I try to find a way to put my own unique spin on it.

I love trying new things! I am so grateful I can do this as my full-time job and work with different brands. It truly is so amazing and I love connecting with people, spreading happiness through these social platforms.

It’s so exciting to hear that you are featured in the new Just Dance 2022! What was it like to be involved and can you share any details as to what we can expect when playing the game?

Enola– So, basically how that happened is that I played Just Dance my entire life and I am always looking for new content ideas. It was actually during Christmastime and I was playing it with my family when I decided to dress up like the character and dance with it next to my TV. I learned to sew with my mom so we created different costumes and I did like 5 videos with Just Dance next to me, which felt very iconic.

By surprise, Just Dance saw my videos and they reached out to me a few months later! It was super exciting to see how we could work together because they loved my videos and I was so shocked! I am so happy because I love Just Dance so much and we talked about how I would be featured in Just Dance.

Basically, I learned to dance a level up from Ciara – they sent me a video, I learned It and I went to their studio in Quebec to shoot it. I think I shot it in like 3 tries. The dance is very, very full out and it takes so much energy! It’s such a great workout.

Being a part of Just Dance 2022 is a huge goal and a dream come true. I was playing it my entire life so to me I made it! It was so fun to be a part of and I am super grateful they reached out to me.

So what’s next for you and your career? Can you drop any hints in regards to what we can look out for?

Enola– I have been working so much on different projects. I am definitely working on music at the moment. Iit’s going to be something I am going to share soon! I’ve loved to sing my entire life but before sharing this new project with the world, I wanted to ensure I have the right technique.

I have been working so hard since July 2020 and I have a bunch of demos. My goal is to create good dance songs and music videos. We’ll see when this drops but definitely lookout for some music soon! I’m super excited about what’s to come.
