Just in time for Mental Health Month!

Exciting news! Celebrity health coach, Erin Treloar – founder of Raw Beauty Co. – has teamed up with former Bachelorette, Kaitlyn Bristowe, to create an incredible 12-week guided virtual mental health program that highlights wellness initiatives and advocates for uplifting women. The program centers around transforming women’s mental health by reshaping relationships with food, body, and mental health based on four pillars of nourishment, movement, mindset, and self-love.

Today, HOLR sat down with Erin to chat all about this amazing 12-week guided program and how it helps take us back to the fundamentals of wellness.

Thank you for sitting down with us today – we’re so excited to chat through this incredible 12-week program launch! How did this amazing partnership come to be?

Thank you so much for having me!

As a certified health coach I had the opportunity to work with Kaitlyn Bristowe before she went on the Bachelorette. We worked together to ensure that she had a wellness program in place that would keep her nourished and feeling her absolute best, physically and mentally.  Knowing that she had struggled with body image it was important to me that we took a non-diet approach to wellness and that really resonated with her.

After doing Dancing with the Stars and co-hosting the most recent season of The Bachelorette she wanted to do a wellness “reset” which sparked the idea of bringing together a group of women to do it together for our 12-week online coaching program The Raw Beauty Reset!

This is a guided wellness program centered around transforming women’s mental health and May is Mental Health Awareness Month, so this program could not have come at a better time. Where did the inspiration for the program come from?

I struggled with an eating disorder in my teens and anxiety and postpartum panic attacks since, so I understand how deeply intertwined our mental health is with our overall health.

When your mental health is struggling it’s so difficult to tap into the tools and practices that support you, like moving your body, mindfulness, nourishing yourself with high energy foods and connecting with others.

In my early twenties, I remember religiously tracking my calories in this little journal and then binging at night in secret and feeling like I was the only one who couldn’t find the discipline to eat “clean”.  After eating anything on my “bad” food list I’d feel so much guilt and shame that I’d revert back to tracking and punishing workouts.  I’d even avoid restaurants or events where I might have to eat outside of my comfort zone.  So much of my mental capacity was spent thinking about and obsessing over food and my body.

When I was struggling with disordered eating, it didn’t matter what size my body was, it was never good enough because deep down I felt like I was never good enough.

Before I could heal my relationship with food and my body, I had to explore the core beliefs, fears and inner dialogue that were guiding my actions. I had to explore the emotional reasons that were leading me to restrict and binge.  The beautiful thing about our brains is that they are moldable, and we have the capacity to shape our focus, perspectives and even the beliefs we carry so that they can help us rather than harm us.

Mindset is one of the four core pillars in the Raw Beauty Reset because I truly believe it is the foundation of wellness and yet it’s so rarely talked about in relation to our health because there is still such a stigma around it.

Tell us all about the 12-week program and what we can expect when signing up.

The Raw Beauty Reset is a guided 12-week program designed to transform your relationship with food and your body, without the diet. Based on four pillars — nourishment, movement, mindset and self love — the Reset is designed to take you back to the fundamentals of wellness for your unique body, teaching you to eat intuitively, create healthy habits, and build an empowering mindset that will support long-term holistic health.

The program is a combination of online learning modules, handouts to support your work, a Facebook community, and a weekly live coaching call with me.

In order to ensure that it is safe and evidence-based practice, the program was reviewed and approved by Dr. Hillary McBride and Registered Dietician, Ali Eberhardt.

Walk us through how the program takes us back to the fundamentals of wellness for our own unique bodies.

The program is broken down into 4 key pillars – nourishment, movement, mindset and self love.  After diving into our “8 Principals of Raw Beauty Wellness” participants start off by getting really clear on their personal vision for wellness and their Wellness Why.

Then we hit the ground running with NOURISHMENT by doing a deep dive into their relationship with food.  Our Golden Guidelines provide a framework for eating that helps balance blood sugar levels while building back communication and trust with the hunger and fullness signals. This intuitive approach to eating is something that anyone can learn – in fact it’s the way that we all ate as children!

The MOVEMENT section explores our relationship with exercise and guides participants to create a movement menu and plan that re-connects them to the joy of moving the body.  We also share strategies to help leave low energy activities like binging Netflix or scrolling social, replacing them with high energy activities like reading, moving your body or connecting with a friend.

In MINDSET we examine core beliefs and values, the thinking mind, fears and the four most common reasons we self-sabotage our wellness.  You’ll also meet your fearful friend – that critical voice that pops up and seems to steal your joy.

Last but not least we explore what SELF CARE looks like for each individual body and ways to make space for it amidst busy schedules.

The Raw Beauty Reset is a deep dive into knowing oneself and what makes you feel most aligned and then creating space to honour that.

You talk about taking down the cyclical culture of unrealistic beauty standards through guided wellness initiatives. How does the program touch on this?

To be honest, I don’t think it’s possible to completely dismantle harmful beauty standards because these standards fuel a multi-billion-dollar beauty and diet industry that has a lot of power behind it.  That being said, I do think we can immunize ourselves against the messages so that they aren’t so destructive to our health.

In the Raw Beauty Reset we explore topics like diet culture, fat phobia and beauty ideals to help bring awareness to why we feel the way we feel about our bodies.  We encourage participants to put away their scales so that they can listen more deeply to their body and we trade strict food rules for a more intuitive approach to eating.  I think the most important aspect of the Raw Beauty Reset is the beautiful community of women who are all committed to feeling their best while breaking free from the harmful beauty standards.  Knowing you’re not alone in this journey and learning and sharing alongside other women makes going against the grain so much easier.
