Kevin Clark, 32, who was famously known for playing the drummer Freddie “Spazzy McGee” Jones in the 2003 film ‘School of Rock’ has passed away in Chicago.

It was reported that Kevin was riding his bike around 1:20 am in a dangerous area for bikers when a woman in her 20’s was driving a Hyundai Sonata and struck Kevin. The Chicago paramedics found him and took him to Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead at 2:04 am.

Kevin was only known for acting in the one film because he didn’t want to pursue a career in Hollywood, he loved music and that is what he lived for. His mothers say he starting to play the drums at the age of 3 by banging on pots and pans in the basement, at age 5 he started lessons, which he also learned guitar, piano and violin.

At the age of 12, Kevin landed the role of Freddy Jones in the rock hit ‘School of Rock’ alongside actors Jack Black and Miranda Cosgrove. Kevin wasn’t an actor and had no intention of being one, but he loved music, he had a raw talent for it. Clark played ‘Iron Man’ for the audition with co-star Joey Gaydos Jr. who played the guitar.

Kevin has had many bands over the years and even taught music too, just this past Sunday Kevin had his first live show with his new band. “He told his bandmates just yesterday: You know, this is finally the life I want to live. And we’re going to make it. You’re my musical family — my family — and we’re all going to make it,” explains his mother.

Many of his co-stars from the film expressed their condolences via social media. Jack Black posted a photo from the film and one more recently when the pair met up in Chicago in 2018, the caption states, “Devastating news. Kevin is gone. Way too soon. Beautiful soul. So many great memories. Heartbroken. Sending love to his family and the whole School of Rock community.”

Another famous co-star is Nickelodeon star Miranda Cosgrove who also posted throwback photos from when they were young, with the sweet message, “Stunned and saddened by this news today. The world lost an amazing soul. I’ll always remember your spirit and how kind you were to me. I’ll never forget all the memories. You’ll always be missed, Kevin.”
