Do you fancy yourself as something of a fashionista but struggle to keep up with the ever-changing trends? Maybe the issue is the cost of having to rejig your wardrobe every season or is a lack of knowledge of the fashion scene in general? Hell, perhaps you just lack the confidence to try something new; whatever is holding you back, we think we may be able to help you.

The key to getting ahead of the fashion curve while keeping your bank balance on an even keel is investing well in accessories every season. This means bringing in a half dozen or so new accessories to help to bring a lease of new life to your existing wardrobe or to help give any new ensemble that added extra bit of detailing that will make it really sing.

Summer is fast approaching, and with that in mind, we’ve collated the big accessories that you’ll need to get your hands on.

Personalized Jewelry

If you don’t already own a custom-made piece of jewelry, you are very much behind the times. Name necklaces, such as the stylish ones on offer here, were huge last year and will continue to be a staple of the accessory scene in 2022.

Rihanna, Beyonce, and the Duchess of Cambridge are all big fans of the personalized jewelry trend, and it’s the perfect blend of luxury and statement value that will help turn people’s heads and grab their attention. This look isn’t for wallflowers.

Leather Sandals

There is something about this summer accessory that we simply adore. Sandals are, of course, a must for the balmy weather, and the essential and endearing quality of leather options in this category make for an accessory that is understated and will go with a number of looks and can be blinged up, if necessary, when worn on a night out but is far better suited to workwear.

Mile-High Boots

This is the polar opposite of simple but effective leather sandals. Mile-high boots are something that you are going to see a lot of this summer. We are talking boots that go on for days and will need to be accompanied by a short skirt or hot pants for the boots to really do their talking. Ideally, you’ll have quite long legs, to begin with, though that doesn’t mean that those of a more demure height can’t get involved in all the fun.

Double Bagging

There is a growing trend for these, two bags for the price of one. There are some great designs out there that double up bags, either one on each side of you. Others double up on each other, one being smaller than the other. You can, of course, create this look yourself by taking two bags out with you. This is an option for those who aren’t too keen on a massive tote bag but still want to be able to leave home with every possible item they’ll need for the upcoming apocalypse.

Stylish Opera Gloves

Summer may be coming, but that doesn’t mean you can’t give your hands a loving covering that makes you feel like a million dollars. Opera gloves are the epitome of good taste and are not just for wearing on your way to a high-end show. You’ll see that most fashion outlets are selling these at quite a pace, and as far as accessories go, this is one we wholeheartedly approve of.

Very Wide Belts

Belts are a great way of offering your outfit a central point of focus. They break up an ensemble and can draw the eye creatively to a particular point. In 2022 the wider, the better, and we are big fans of jet black designs or those with an extra bit of bling to really show off the overall look.

Bucket Hats

Yes, we know what you are thinking, and initially, we thought that too. It’s a look that seems out of fashion, but it’s very much made a massive return. Retro looks, such as the reliable 90s staple of a bucket hat, are now back in, and there are some great designs to be had that make them look far more effective in 2022 than you might have first thought. Give it a go; you might be pleasantly surprised. Top fashion labels such as Gucci and Fendi are offering you the chance to spend significant sums to get the very highest fashion versions also if that’s something you want to consider.

Converse Sneakers

Do you have a trusty pair of Converse All-Stars? If so, are they still wearable? If you don’t have a pair that can be worn with grace, then get a new pair. These are a dependable accessory to your summer look that is going to be once again all the rage. High-top sneakers, and those with a platform boost, are going to be huge in 2022, and there are many variations on this theme. The key here is retro, and as such, that ‘worn’ look works, but of course, if your old pair is now too tattered to try and revive, get out there and get a new pair, maybe one with a striking animal print? Perfect for those long summer walks across town.

Rimless Sunglasses

This is another of those timeless looks that were massive around 2000, well, they’ve made a comeback, and it’s a revival we can get behind. Many of these are in the expensive category, but you can find a good pair in most fashion outlets and online stores. Again, great for when the sun starts to creep back into our lives.

Lightweight Scarves

Yes, it’s going to be a bit hotter, but a lovely lightweight scarf for the crisp evenings is an excellent option to have. Look for a nice silk option and maybe have a few options in your double bag. You might switch between different prints and designs to go with style options when you make the outfit change from office to a night out on the town!
