The founders of the Montreal-based jewellery and lifestyle brand.

Toni and Allie Sevdalis are sisters and total girl bosses. They are the founders of C&C Luxury Co., a Montreal-based jewellery and lifestyle brand that is super popular right now. From luxe jewellery to silk scrunchies, C&C has it all – the girls sat down with HOLR to chat through their plans for the brand and their favourite pieces on the site right now.

Tell us a little bit about yourselves and how you started your own brand- you’re total girl bosses!

Allie – I started my YouTube channel back in 2008 when I was 13 years old and it was such a different landscape back then. I talked about beauty, mainly, at the time, then went into different topics like lifestyle and mental health. Toni didn’t start her YouTube channel until later but she was involved on my channel in some videos at first. In 2016, Toni was actually making bracelets at our kitchen table and when I took a picture and posted it on Instagram, people were asking me, “where can I get them?” and that’s really how our brand started.

Toni – At the time I was going to university full time so couldn’t really focus on YouTube but when I finally started getting into it I loved it and wanted to make it work full time. When I started focusing on YouTube I felt like things really took off! Our goal with C&C was to make luxury affordable because there’s huge markups- especially on jewellery.

Allie – There’s been a natural evolution of the brand. Toni’s channel really took off when she started her “Bougie on a Budget” series on YouTube so the idea of luxury being affordable really fit into the C&C brand. Right now, we are focusing on giving our customer’s a luxurious experience from start to finish.

How has the brand grown over the last few years? 

Toni – People always ask us “how did you start a business” and truthfully we had no idea what we were doing when we first started. Comparing where we are now to when we began, it’s totally different! We have spent time researching how to improve packaging and overall customer experience. We want our customers to feel spoiled!

Allie – It’s been an evolution. Over time, and as we have had time to reinvest, we really wanted to focus on improving efficiencies, like shipping! 

Toni – In this day and age, people want luxurious packaging, high-quality products and they want it like yesterday!

Allie – It’s really just the two of us and we do want to grow, and with COVID right now it’s been a little hard but we have recently been looking into new office spaces to expand production.

Tell us about some of the amazing products we can find on the site.

Toni – When we pick our pieces we extensively test the quality of them so we can ensure their durability. We also recently released a new line of our friendship bracelets, which have been a best seller of ours for a really long time.  

Allie – Our pieces are inspired by high-end pieces and some of the pieces on the site were born out of admiring luxury brands but not wanting to invest in their expensive price tags. 

Toni – We also just released our watch collection and it did so well! We wanted to give our customers a luxurious watch without them having to pay an expensive price for it. 

Allie – We are really in tune with our viewers and saw people liked our watch styles so we decided to customize a watch style that we knew not only we would love but that our viewers would love, as well. We are really our ideal customers so anything that we really like or are passionate about, we knew our audience would likely be interested in since we built our audience by sharing what we love.

You recently released gorgeous watches- where does the inspiration for your pieces come from and is your own style reflected in the pieces featured on the site?

Allie – Our dad is a Greek immigrant and for us, it was really important that we understood our culture and knew where we came from. One of our favourite parts during the summer was going into little boutiques in Greece and admiring the unique pieces- like their evil eye jewellery. The evil eye pieces on our site are really inspired by our childhood and have a soft spot for me for sure. It’s really a mix of seeing pieces we love and the things that we’re interested in that truly inspire us. Everything is really custom- starting with the pieces, right down to the bags they come in.

Toni – I love that we can do what we love everyday and it really doesn’t feel like work. 

Allie – I would look at Toni sometimes with gratitude and be like, “Isn’t it so cool that we get to work together?” We don’t take any of this for granted. 

What are some of your favourite products/collections you’ve created for the brand?

Toni – Right now my favourites are the watches because I was really involved in every little detail so they are really one of my favourite pieces. I also love our tennis bracelets because they look super expensive and feel amazing and so luxurious!

Allie – I love pieces that I can wear every day- with everything going on lately it’s easy to get stuck in a rut but I love getting ready in the morning and taking time to put myself together so I love pieces like the Vintage Link necklace because it’s really easy to layer. The standout necklace for me right now is the genuine pearl pendant and I love the way it layers with my other pieces.

Toni – Because we’re a small brand we have to be very intentional with our decisions and we love asking our followers for their insights and opinions on custom things like product colours, sizing, etc. because we want to make products that our customers will love!

What’s next for C&C Luxury Co.? Can you give us any sneak peeks?

Toni – We have a lot coming up! The next big thing is that we are transitioning into creating a solid gold and genuine diamond line that is still going to be affordable. We also have a lot of dainty gold pieces, like rings and crosses in the works.

Allie – I would like to expand the silk collection because it’s so good for the skin- like pillowcases, eye masks, or more colours of the scrunchies! We just released a brown scrunchie and people are just overall so excited about the matching scrunchie and mask line. I also love our genuine pearl line right now and would love to expand our watch collection as well. We would love to expand into more hair accessories and give our brand a more lifestyle feel. Headbands, robes or silk scarves would be amazing additions to the lineup.

Toni – We would even love to venture into things like candles or soap- and loungewear! We have so many ideas!

Allie – In a way, one of our goals is to make our brand more of a freestanding lifestyle brand and complement our jewellery with lifestyle-based products to appeal to an even broader audience – we’re genuinely excited about everything we have in mind for C&C and can’t wait to see it grow from here.
