Every day is a day for comfort food. The crumbly textures combined with the nostalgic, heartwarming aspect of preparing it make comfort foods a favourite for all—even celebrities. While we’d expect our favourite celebrities to be accustomed to opulent, fine dining, they often gravitate towards comfort foods like we do.

The most beloved comfort foods across North America include a classic mac-and-cheese, grilled cheese, popcorn, pizza, pancakes and, in honour of National Flapjack Day, we can’t forget flapjacks. The oat-based pancake-like cakes are made with golden syrup, oats, flour, butter, sugar, and mixed spices—and are certified by Dwayne The Rock Johnson.

Here’s a list of our favourite celebrity comfort foods:

The Rock’s Flapjack Pancakes

When The Rock takes a “Cheat Day”, he opts for coconut-banana flapjacks. After he finally shared his recipe on Instagram, it became an internet sensation.

The first step includes sifting and mixing dry ingredients like flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and shredded coconut. Then, the wet ingredients, whisked eggs, coconut water, coconut milk, whole milk, vanilla extract, coconut oil and butter are mixed lightly into the dry mixture till it’s clumpy, after which banana pieces are added. He even cautions: DO NOT over mix, a few lumps are ok.

For the second step, he heats a griddle or fry pan to 275º, and prepares and serves them with maple syrup.

Gigi Hadid’s Pasta

The TikTok-famous recipe is simple yet delicious. For the first step, diced onions and minced garlic are sautéed golden-brown. Then, she adds tomato paste, whipping cream, butter, and vodka till the paste has an orangey hue. Then, she adds the pasta, parmesan cheese, and fresh basil to serve. It’s a perfect dinner for a weekend date night.

Chrissy Teigen’s Beef Skewers with Tahini Sauce

Chrissy Teigen is a beloved celebrity, and her recipe is no less. For the taste of her beef skewers, the effort she puts into it is worth it. First, the meat is marinated for 2-12 hours in pineapple juice, oil, soy sauce, vinegar, garlic, oregano, and pepper. Then, Teigen makes her tahini sauce by whisking together tahini, garlic, water, lemon juice, salt, pepper, and parsley. The skewers are made with par-cooked potatoes, tomatoes, and onions, all seasoned with salt and pepper, and then threaded through the skewers with the meat. Then, she cooks each side for 4-5 minutes, ensuring that everything is cooked thoroughly. She serves it with mouth-watering pita bread and tahini sauce.
