The Award-winning singer-songwriter takes her audience on an intimate journey behind the scenes of making her hit debut album, SOUR. The “High School Musical: The Musical: The Series” actress teams up with Disney+ in producing the concert-documentary film where Rodrigo recounts her creative process that made SOUR a record-breaking debut album.

The Critical Success
It was only last year when Olivia Rodrigo first topped the charts with her quadruple-platinum debut single “drivers license.” The song became an instant hit online and made countless rounds on TikTok. Not long after, Rodrigo followed “drivers license” with another viral song, “deja vu,” which landed a No. 8 spot in Billboard Hot 100, making Rodrigo the first artist in history to have two debut singles in the top ten. A month later, the breakout star released SOUR as a full-length album consisting of 11 tracks under Geffen Records. Upon release, the album landed the No. 1 spot on Billboard 200 and broke records on Spotify for having the biggest opening week for an album by a female artist. It was reported that the album garnered 385 million streams in the first seven days since its March 21st release. At Spotify’s 2021 Wrapped, the album nabbed the most globally streamed album of the year, while “drivers license” took the spot for the top streamed song of 2021 with over 1.1 billion streams.
Other than its commercial success, SOUR also received critical acclaim. Rolling Stone named it the #1 Album of 2021, while The Times called it a “bedroom pop of the highest order.” At Metacritic, the album sits at a rating of 83 based on 20 critic reviews. The album was strong, especially for a debut record. Rodrigo easily claimed her spot as the new face of Gen Z pop. The critical success of SOUR earned the singer seven nominations for the 2022 Grammy Awards and a “New Artist of the Year” award at the 2021 American Music Awards.
Driving Home 2 U Teaser Trailer
Her new concert-film project, “OLIVIA RODRIGO: driving home 2 u,” documents her road trip from Salt Lake City, where she began writing the album, to Los Angeles. The film will show her writing and creative process accompanied by close interviews where she shares her feelings regarding this delicate time of her life. Directed by Stacey Lee, the film will show never-before-seen footage from the making of the album.
“OLIVIA RODRIGO: driving home 2 u ( a SOUR film)” is a Disney+ original film, produced by Interscope FIlms and Supper Club. It will premiere exclusively on Disney+ on March 25, 2022.
Olivia Rodrigo is set to take the global stage on her 2022 SOUR Tour this coming spring.
