Norman Powell’s time as a Toronto Raptor has come to an end. Today before the 3pm trade deadline the Raptor traded Norman Powell to the Portland Trail Blazers for 22 year old Gary Trent Jr.

The Athletic

Norm as they nicknamed him, has been with the team for six years after being drafted as a second round pick in 2015. Over the years, winning the Championship in 2019 and becoming one of the leagues premiere scorers, Norm has done a lot of work for the Raptors.

With Norm’s successes as a Raptor, it was only fair that they traded him as his free agency was coming up this summer. With that, the Raptors traded him to the Trail Blazers for rookie Gary Trent Jr. who is a 6 foot 5 inch guard averaging 15 points with a 39% 3 pointer average.

As Norm leaves the team that leaves the Raptors with another one of their Championship players gone, just like Marc Gasol who they traded to the Lakers this season and Danny Green who they traded to the Lakers in 2020.

As Raptors acquire new, younger talent in hopes of winning another championship, they are only left with VanVleet, Lowry and Siakam as the veterans to lead the way.
