With an opening dance number set in New York at 8:31am, and finally the fashion show in Paris at 2:38pm this show opened on brand for Hermès. With an orange backdrop filled with hats and bag boxes, the fashion show made a statement that was very brand aware.

It wasn’t until the dancers stopped dancing that you realize the runway hasn’t started yet, and many were glad as the dancers were set in similar pieces to the shows but all in monochromatic Hermès brown.

The show resembled much of traditional fashion, paying attention to fabrics like leather and the details of traditional tailoring. You can see that creative director French designer Nadège Vanhee-Cybulski, put lots of thought into this collection, making a statement to clean lines, different fabrics and comfort and functionality.

With much of the collection being based on leather, jeans and technical materials, the idea behind the collection itself does not go hand in hand with the fabrics. Throughout the show many dance numbers are performed, to showcase the idea of ‘movement’ which was the inspiration for the collection. As the fabrics may not embody the idea, the tailoring does. With less focus on shape and silhouette, many pieces were cut for comfortability, like straight trousers and flowy dresses.

Once again, another artist is showcasing the idea of what the freedom of movement means, in a time of not being able to be free and move around the world. Check out the dance numbers and runway here.
