We spoke with SIA SWIM founder to get some insight behind the brand and which pieces are the current favourites.
What inspired your latest collection?
The collection was inspired while travelling through Europe, the Caribbean and East Asia. A profound love for travel, and having grown up on a European beach inspired the desire to create perfect “everywhere” bikini pieces that instil confidence, offer versatility and complements the vibe of a destination the wearer is in. Our bikini styles are inspired by the classic 90’s aesthetic – high cut, elongating, and minimal coverage. In a swimwear market where a quality set goes for upwards of $200 we sought to create high-quality pieces at a more affordable price point.
What swimwear style sold at SIA is the most popular?
The Scartlett set is the most popular piece in our collection. The fit accentuates the curves and the elasticity of the fabric stretches out to perfectly hug all body types. It features a unique 90’s tie back top design that lets you control the tightness of the fit and support for your bust. The colour is vivid, the fabric is lustrous, and the bottoms are cheeky! A combination of all of the above makes it a unique piece that stands out from the crowd.
If someone is going for a classic beach look- which of your designs would you recommend?
For a classic, timeless look we recommend the Demi set. This set comes in three staple colours: White, Black and Army Green. The bottoms provide enough coverage so that if you’re not entirely comfortable flaunting your cheeks, you will love the balancing coverage of the Demi. The versatile bikini top can be worn from day to night paired with your favourite jeans or a skirt. This kind of style was worn by an ultimate beach babe Elle Macpherson in the 90’s and will remain a classic for many years to come.
What makes your brand stand out?
Our pieces are cheeky and the materials we use are luxurious in quality and colours. Each set is unique in its design, colour selection and fabric. Our handmade swimwear complements the location it’s worn in so we’ve created a high-quality line that’s essential for jet setting international style and low key staycations. Can you tell us a bit more about the fabric used?
We work with Italian and Indonesian lycra for our collection. Italian lycra is a regenerated made fabric from pre and post-consumer waste like fishing nets and fabric scraps. Both fabrics are super soft, light, breathable, body-hugging, UV protective and chlorine resistant. They possess a unique elasticity and are able to resume to original size without any deformity. With this amazing shape recovery, your bikinis remain in perfect condition even after frequent use!
