The temperatures may be dropping outside, but the colours were bright and designs were hot at the Alice + Olivia SS20 show. As part of New York Fashion Week, the presentation by Stacey Bendet showcased many designs that women will be lining up for this upcoming spring. Through a series of nine transportive sets, models donned candy inspired colours, innovative patterns and dramatic designs.

Before the show even began, the designer Stacey Bendet was spotted being photographed with celebrities such as Sofia Richie, Jessica Szohr and Suki Waterhouse among the brightly coloured walls and simple sets. The guests were encouraged to enjoy themselves, snack upon Glenlivet infused ice cream and even Paris Hilton and her sister, Nicki Hilton Rothschild, were spotted pretending to have a tea party! The colourful surroundings and childlike props made the perfect backdrop for the designs to come.

Described as a modern bohemian field of dreams, the presentation of the Spring Summer 2020 collection certainly didn’t disappoint. Among the designs were bold colour blocking, dramatic shapes, strong pants, voluminous sleeves, floral print, bright paisley and delicate embroidery. As extra accents, square neck-cuts and tea length skirts kept the collection feeling very feminine and unique. Alice + Olivia is known for combining whimsical and flirty, with sexy and sophisticated – the perfect mix of bright and bold.

“When the colors are right in a space, you exhale and tune into your own interior,” said Bendet of the SS20 collection and presentation. “I dream in color —  and these rooms are fashion dreams come to life.”

As a special addition to the collection, Alice + Olivia collaborated with designer Everard Best to introduce hand embroidered, dyed and distressed denim for spring. The designer, who is known for Murder Bravado and Who Decides War menswear labels, describes the collaboration as “an opportunity to work with one of the foremost American womenswear designers in the industry.” The colours and texture used by Best meld together to create beautiful pieces that will be available for purchase next spring.

Flirty colour blocked dresses, mint structured coordinates and bold yellow ruffles caught the eye of each individual at the presentation on Monday. Worn proudly around the globe by the likes of Meghan Markle, Beyonce, Gigi Hadid and Jessica Alba, the brand once again made a statement on the runways of New York Fashion Week and has all of us impatiently waiting for spring, when we can once again adorn ourselves with pastels and feminine shapes.
