Mr. Steve Harvey just put his name in as the next style icon to watch out for, and we need to talk about his new style.
Does anyone have Steve Harvey as a style icon in their 2021 bingo card? No? Then don’t worry, you’re not alone. Meet your newly dubbed style icon, Steve Harvey. Yes, you read that right. The Family Feud host recently broke the fashion realm with his new looks.
Who would have thought that the comedian and TV host will go viral for something completely unrelated to his field? Are we shocked? Maybe. But are we really surprised? Probably not. We are talking about the same man who pulled off interesting looks in the 90s, and yes perhaps those fits do not translate well in today’s fashion climate but from a 90s fashion standpoint? It totally works. This is also the same man who willingly wears bright-coloured suits, embellished gold and green suits, and even sparkly tuxedos, so it is only about time that Mr. Harvey comes out in fresh-off-the-runway looks.

This freshly revamped style is all thanks to his stylist, Elly Karamoh. Karamoh is a Parisian stylist who has been working with Harvey since 2019. In an interview, he was asked why it took this long for Mr. Harvey to finally show off his style and his answer was basically this: the TV host is just “more open-minded” these days. For someone like Steve Harvey–a celebrity who has been hosting family-friendly TV programs for so long–it’s easy to be labelled as ‘conservative’ or businessman-like and this is probably why the basic blue and black suits were customary to him. But why settle? (He asked, maybe) I mean, he is a celebrity. A household name. A superstar! So why not act like it?–or in this case–dress like it?

Besides, dressing “conservative” should not limit you to the basic black and blue colourways. As classic as they are, Steve Harvey deserves to be in bright colours. And rightly so, it’s a blessing to see him in a custom orange Alta Satoria suit, or in a chartreuse Spring/Summer ‘21 Dior Homme, or even better, in a lilac suit with a powder blue overcoat! Nothing about these outfits is remotely conservative but it gives off the same level of classiness that is just perfect for the kind of man that he is. Karamoh does a phenomenal job at dressing Harvey in sophisticated yet over-the-top outfits. As loud and shocking as they seem, it never goes beyond crazy and try-hard. Every outfit we saw from his so far looks like something he would pick himself and that is probably why this is working so well for him. Or maybe it’s the natural suave attitude? Either way, this is just the beginning. There is so much more to look forward to and I, for one, could not wait!
