As Hurricane Milton Nears the US, Florida residents prepare to evacuate.

October 8, 2024- Yahoo recently reported that the category 5 hurricane has weakened slightly and is now being considered a category 4. However, Florida residents have been urged to begin evacuating before the storm hits.
Milton passed through Cancun last night with wind speeds up to 155 MPH and violent lightning storms.

The storm has been expected to expand in size. Florida governor, Ron Desantis warned, “Even if it does weaken, you’re still looking at a major hurricane. It is going to have really, really significant impacts.”
The National Weather Service expects 10-15 feet tall storm surges.

Local Floridians are scrambling to evacuate and the Tampa Bay governor warned, “You are going to die.” if you do not leave. Milton is expected to be on record as one of the worst hurricanes to hit the tropical state in years.
Residents have been told to evacuate as soon as possible by the government.

While it has been downgraded from a category 5, the damage is expected to be extreme nonetheless. There is also a chance that it may be upgraded back to a category 5 or higher, per the National Hurricane Center.
Floridians have just scraped by Hurricane Helene which was already a devastating storm. Now they are expected to suffer through another, which is potentially going to be much worse.
