KFC’s latest commercial, part of their ongoing “Believe” campaign, has sparked a significant online backlash due to its unsettling content.

KFC Chicken Human Meat

In the ad, a man is reportedly mysteriously transformed into fried chicken and seemingly brought into a cult (here), which has left viewers deeply disturbed and questioning the brand’s intentions. What was meant to be a humorous and entertaining advertisement has, instead, gone viral on platforms like Reddit and X (formerly Twitter), with many users reacting with confusion and concern.

TikToker @youwontbelievemeofficial discusses the alleged viral claims brought about in the new ad in this video.

KFC Commercial

The ad’s bizarre concept, where a human character seems to turn into a piece of fried chicken, has led to widespread speculation that KFC may be hinting at something far more sinister.

Several social media users have taken to online forums to voice their discomfort, with some even alleging that the brand is promoting someone supposedly being sacrificed, in which theories such as cannibalism, or suggesting that human meat is used in their food have been brought about. These claims, while provocative, have no concrete evidence to back them up. Critics have pointed to the resemblance of the commercial to the 1973 dystopian film Soylent Green, where human remains are used to create a food product, further fueling fears that the ad could be promoting something grotesque.

KFC Ad

Despite the outcry, KFC has seemingly not responded directly to the specific claims regarding cannibalism, but the brand has seemingly claimed that the ad was created purely to entertain and engage audiences with its playful and imaginative concept, as also noted here. However, the idea of transforming a person into food has clearly hit a nerve, with many viewers expressing discomfort at the graphic nature of the transformation.

Is Soylent Green Made from Humans?

While the commercial was likely intended to be edgy and attention-grabbing, its execution has sparked significant controversy. Whether or not the ad was meant to reference Soylent Green or suggest anything about the brand’s ingredients, it has undoubtedly stirred strong reactions, leading to calls for KFC to rethink its approach to advertising.

The disturbing imagery may have garnered attention, but it seems to have done so at the cost of alienating some viewers and raising uncomfortable questions about the brand’s message.

Again, there is no concrete evidence to support the above claims.
