However, the brief trip to space has received significant criticism both online and by other female celebrities.

As outlined in The Hollywood Reporter, Gayle King has addressed the ongoing criticism she and her crew mates are receiving. Specifically, the journalist said that it is “good that we can really address” the discussion around the usefulness of the quick expedition.

“I was one of those people, before I went on this flight and became educated at space, [questioning,] ‘Why are we spending so much money on space when there’s so much to do here on Earth?’ King said to Extra.
Specifically, the journalist said that her perspective changed when she learned more about Blue Origin’s goals as a company. According to King, the company is trying to find “a way to harness the waste here and figure out a way to put it in space to make planet Earth a better place.”
