Microsoft CrowdStrike Outage
Yesterday, users of popular social media apps such as Instagram thought the app was glitching. Many users reported their apps not to be loading. Some even found explicit content in place of their normal forms of media consumption. The incident initially seemed like another social media hack until other forms of technology started to take a hit. Businesses all around the world were unable to connect to their devices. Airports are grounding flights, stores are closing early, and people are struggling to get work done. The outcome was not just a social media hack; some of the biggest tech companies in the world could not connect users to the internet and its resources.
IT company Microsoft and cyber security firm CrowdStrike are currently to blame for the global delays. Both companies told the media that their services were interrupted after a flawed software update was loading on their servers. While the companies are trying their hardest to get their services back up and running, consumers are struggling to serve the masses as many of their resources rely on at least one of the companies to run their services.
Did They Fix The Microsoft Outage
Many of the companies affected by the outage are non-essential. While it’s frustrating that many had to close until further notice, other services need the services back as soon as possible. Hospitals and airports were globally the most affected by the loss of IT connections.
Currently, thousands of planes are grounded at airports. Many passengers have been grounded since yesterday, and many flights have been canceled or delayed. While the airports are a big inconvenience, the hospitals are in a bad position with IT support. So many modern resources, including many of the devices used in medical and emergency settings, rely on technological advances to function. Similar to normal power outages, many patients are put in a compromising position, especially those with machines that help with life support or other life-saving functions. The outage is currently ongoing, but hopefully, no other issues will arise while the globe waits for good news.
