Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis skip their royal titles at Lambrook School to enjoy a more normal childhood and maintain privacy, following a longstanding royal tradition.

Why They Don’t Use Royal Titles

September 3, 2025: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, children of Prince William and Princess Catherine, are not using their royal titles at school. Instead, they are known simply as George Wales, Charlotte Wales, and Louis Wales. This allows them to attend school with a sense of normalcy and privacy.

Royal Tradition Behind the Names

This practice aligns with a royal tradition where children adopt a surname derived from their parent’s title — in this case, “Wales.” Previously, when their parents were Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the children used “Cambridge” as their surname at school.

A Normal Childhood for Royal Kids

The decision reflects the Duke and Duchess of Wales’ desire to provide their children with a grounded and private upbringing, allowing them to experience a typical childhood without the extra attention that royal titles might attract. This is consistent with how other royal children, including Prince William and Prince Harry, were known during their school years.
