Richard Simmons shares skin cancer journey after bump discovery, emphasizes importance of early detection and medical care.

Richard Simmons, aged 75, recently disclosed his battle with skin cancer shortly after expressing thoughts about mortality on social media. In a heartfelt Facebook post, Simmons recounted his journey from noticing a peculiar bump under his right eye to receiving a diagnosis of basal cell carcinoma.

After visiting a specialist, Dr. Ralph A. Massey, Simmons reflected on encountering other skin cancer patients during his visit. He expressed shock at the extent of their conditions, with some having cancer on various parts of their bodies.

Detailing the treatment process, Simmons mentioned the discomfort he experienced during the procedure. “There was no numbing, it just had to be done with a small instrument,” he recalled. Despite the pain, he emphasized the importance of addressing such health concerns promptly.

Following the procedure, Simmons shared a positive update, stating, “Well, the third time was a charm. With a smile on [the doctor’s] face, he said, ‘We got all the cancer cells out.’ I gave him a hug.” He also expressed gratitude for the doctor’s skillful work that prevented scarring.

Simmons concluded his post with a heartfelt plea for others to prioritize their health, urging, “Promise me you will see your doctor and get a complete check-up.”
