Rap Mogul Seeks Leniency After Conviction on Prostitution-Related Charges

A Plea for Redemption

October 3, 2025: Ahead of his sentencing on October 3, 2025, Sean “Diddy” Combs submitted a heartfelt four-page letter to U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian, seeking leniency after being convicted on two counts related to prostitution. In the letter, Combs expressed deep remorse for his actions, acknowledging the pain he caused to his ex-girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, and another victim known as “Jane.” He described his past behavior as “dead wrong” and took full responsibility for his conduct.

Personal Transformation During Incarceration

Combs, who has been incarcerated since September 2024, reflected on the profound changes he has undergone during his time in detention. He reported becoming sober for the first time in 25 years, engaging in therapy, and teaching a business class to fellow inmates. He emphasized his desire to be a better father to his seven children and a caregiver to his elderly mother, who recently underwent brain surgery.

Legal Proceedings and Sentencing

In July 2025, Combs was acquitted of more severe charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering. However, he was convicted on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution, which carry a maximum sentence of 20 years. Prosecutors have requested a sentence of over 11 years, while Combs’ defense team has asked for no more than 14 months, considering time already served.

A Call for Mercy

In his letter, Combs pleaded with the judge to consider his efforts toward rehabilitation and personal growth. He expressed a commitment to never reoffend and to serve as an example of redemption. He also highlighted the impact his incarceration has had on his family, particularly his role as a father and caregiver.
