Shohei Ohtani Contract
29-year-old Japan native, Shohei Ohtani has signed the biggest contract in North American sports history…
For $700 million!
And it’s with the L.A Dodgers.
The contract Ohtani signed is for a 10-year deal and is said to give a major boost to Los Angeles World Series hopes.
While also giving them one of the sports biggest players.
However, the deal is said to have “unprecedented deferrals” that will keep the expected salary under $70 million a year.
It’s also reported that the deferrals were in fact Ohtani’s idea, designed to help the Dodgers manage the luxury tax situation.
How long the deferrals are for are unknown at this time.
Shohei Ohtani Salary
Previously the biggest contracts offered in sports went to Chiefs’ quarterback Patrick Mahomes also for 10-year worth $503 million.
But there was also Mike Trout’s 12-year, $426.5 million contract.
Which was the largest fully guaranteed deal in North American sports history at the time.
Having signed the $700 million mega deal, Ohtani is locked in to play for the dodgers well up to his 39th birthday.
