Vikings First Primetime Matchup of the Season is Soured. Puka Nakua is back. Rams Win 30-20.
October 25, 2024- The Vikings’ first primetime matchup of the season was spoiled by Matthew Stafford and his, now-healthy, Rams roster.
Wideout Puka Nacua had been on injury reserve since week 1 with a knee injury, and Cooper Kupp had missed time on an ankle injury. Prior to the game, Sean McVay told the media that it was likely that Puka would be on a “snap count” however it was clear off the bat that this would not be the case.
Puka looked like he was back to his prime form as he caught 8 balls for 107 yards. Kupp caught 5 balls for 52 yards and a touchdown. The duo looked better than ever and easily maneuvered through the Vikings’ secondary.
Star wide receiver Justin Jefferson looked fantastic as always, hauling in 8 catches for 115 yards. Even though he didn’t find the endzone he still was a key player in the Vikings game this week.
Vikings vs. Rams
Both teams came out firing to start the game. Sam Darnold led the Vikings to a touchdown on the first drive with a pass to Josh Oliver followed by Stafford and the Rams marching downfield for a touchdown of their own with a pass to running back Kyren Williams.
The Vikings then got the ball back and scored yet another touchdown, however, this would be their last endzone look of the game. Their offense hit a major wall after the first quarter and they would only score 6 more points throughout the game via field goal.
Vikings vs. Rams Refs
With a little over a minute and a half left in the 4th quarter. Darnold and the Vikings have the ball inside their own 5-yard line. This is when the refs miss a huge game-changing call.
Darnold dropped back looking for a pass and Byron Young got him down for a safety on a missed face mask call. This missed call has prompted many fans to take to TikTok to voice their frustrations on the missed call by the refs.

NFL referees are notorious for making some horrible game-altering calls so this is nothing new. But it is still frustrating to many to see what could have been a game-winning drive, be wiped by an egregious missed call.
The Minnesota Vikings have dropped to 5-3 while the Los Angeles Rams are climbing back up the ranks to 3-4.
