Why is there a travel advisory for Jamaica Montego Bay? HOLR breaks down the viral news.

According to this TikTok video posted by user @wanderfultravel, USA Today published a story allegedly telling people to “reconsider” traveling to Jamaica.

Jamaica Travel Advisory

Supposedly, according to the TikTok video, it claims that the state department is citing “high crime and health concerns” in the popular destination. Allegedly this travel advisory is for areas such as Montego Bay, Ocho Rios, and some Negril neighborhoods. It is also alleging these issues are happening at the all-inclusive report’s properties in regard to armed robberies, SA, and homicides.

This related TikTok video posted by user @ivangtv claims that the American government came out with a warning when traveling to the Bahamas. Recently, a level 3 warning was issued when traveling to Jamaica.

Apparently, the US Embassy in Jamaica is calling it an advisory level 3 which is one less than the most severe which warns Americans against traveling altogether.

It is also alleged that local police don’t respond “effectively” to these alleged instances.
