For weeks, the media has been speculating on whether Meghan Markle would accompany Prince Harry in attending King Charles’ coronation in England. Today, we know that she isn’t coming. HOLR breaks down the reasons below.

Meghan Markle Staying in California

As noted by Page Six, the king’s coronation at Westminster Abbey falls around the same time as Meghan’s son Archie’s fourth birthday. Things between the Sussexes and the royal family are still awkward, thus Meghan will stay behind while Prince Harry prepares to fly to London.

Buckingham Palace recognized that the May 6th coronation will be “a historic event” and a source has allegedly said that the palace regrets that Meghan and her children would not attend.

Prince Harry’s Reunion Since His Controversial Book

The king’s coronation will be the first time Prince Harry reunites with his family ever since he released his memoir, “Spare”, in January. The prince would likely stay at the Frogmore Cottage one last time for the duration of the crowning ceremony. Although his attendance at the coronation is confirmed as of April 12th, it is thought that he would not be allowed to stand on the balcony with his father and Queen Camilla because he is no longer a working royal.

Despite the rocky history between Prince Harry and the rest of the British royal family, an insider has told Entertainment Weekly that “the family wants the king to be happy, and having the son travel to America for such a pivotal moment in his life will make Charles happy.”

In other news, Prince Harry’s nephew Prince George, the nine-year-old son of Prince William and Kate Middleton, will be the page of honor at the king’s coronation. Apparently, Prince George’s involvement in his grandfather’s coronation is something new since traditionally grandchildren of the monarchs don’t play a role in coronations.
