Multiple sources claim that the woman who filed the complaint against Shell for inappropriate conduct was CNBC anchor and Senior International Correspondent, Hadley Gamble. The nature of the “inappropriate conduct” has not been disclosed, however, it has been reported that Shell had a relationship with Gamble which started about 11 years ago and continued sporadically up until a couple of years ago when it ended.

The complaint was lodged within the past month and the matter went all the way to Comcast Chairman and CEO, Brian Roberts, through the proper channels. The outside law firm hired to investigate delivered their findings to top Comcast brass within the past week. It was discovered during the investigation that there was communication between Shell and Gamble via company email.

NBCUniversal CEO Jeff Shell Stepping Down Following Investigation into Inappropriate Conduct

On Sunday, Comcast announced that Jeff Shell, the CEO of NBCUniversal, will be stepping down from his position following an investigation by outside counsel into a complaint of “inappropriate conduct”. Shell released a statement apologising for having an “inappropriate relationship with a woman in the company”. He expressed deep regret for letting his colleagues down and stated that working with them over the past 19 years had been a privilege.

Shell has been with the company since 2004 and became CEO of NBCUniversal in January 2020. In his position, he oversaw the company’s portfolio of news and entertainment television networks, a premier motion picture company, significant television and sports production operations, a leading television stations group, theme parks and a premium ad-supported streaming service called Peacock, which was launched in 2020.

n a company memo about Shell’s exit, Roberts and Comcast President Mike Cavanagh indicated that the former NBCU CEO had violated company policy. They stated that leaders should create a safe and respectful workplace, and when principles and policies are violated, appropriate action would always be taken.

It’s understood that Shell is leaving quietly to spend time with his family. Comcast has not yet announced who will be taking over as CEO of NBCUniversal.
