Taylor wrote a lengthy post to her Instagram yesterday, sharing why she chose to speak up about the presidential race with her followers. Taylor, who openly supported President Biden during his presidential run, made it clear she felt some responsibility in sharing the position.
Taylor is one of the biggest pop stars ever. She has a massive audience of young listeners, many of whom will be voting for the first time in the election. She has already influenced many young people to sign up to vote this election season. Although Taylor won’t be the deciding factor in the election, it’s clear celebrities with influence like hers make a difference in numbers. Especially when it comes to young voters.
Taylor’s Instagram post also gained much attention for how she signed off on it. Swift called herself a “childless cat lady.” She alluded to a phrase previously used by Sen. JD Vance, Trump’s running mate, to criticize Democrats. Taylor isn’t new to the Trump administration using her likeness to milk votes. Swift has recently called Trump out for using her music and making AI-generated political ads with her face. However, Taylor clarified that she does not find that behavior okay and will not allow Trump to use her or her music for his campaign. Furthermore, Kamala Harris can add Taylor to her list of supporters who are ready to vote in November.
