Rapper Sean Kingston and his mother, Janice Turner, have been found guilty of fraud. The mother and son now face decades behind bars.

Prior to the two appearing in court, Janice was arrested during a police raid at the rapper’s home. Kingston was not home at the time, but he was quick to assure his fans that everything was fine. However, the rapper may now face decades in prison along with his mother.

Kingston, 35, and Turner, 62, have been charged with four counts of wire fraud and one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud. In addition, authorities have stated that the mother and son duo defrauded multiple luxury companies during their scheme.

“The defendants unjustly enriched themselves by falsely representing that they had executed bank wire or other monetary payment transfers… [then] retained or attempted to retain the vehicles, jewelry and other goods despite non-payment,” federal prosecutors said. “Through the execution of this scheme, the defendants obtained in excess of $1 million in property.”

Kingston did not testify during the trial. In fact, his defense team described him as a “child” with limited understanding of finances. However, Turner admitted to falsifying wires when she took to the stand. Specifically, she stated she did this in an attempt to protect Kingston from scammers. Reportedly, the two will face sentencing on July 11 of this year.
