The actor and wrestler is opening up about his past skin cancer diagnosis. Cena wants to be able to bring attention to the importance of skin protection.

John Cena is the quintessential good guy of the wrestling world. Specifically, Cena is seen as a role model that fans can look up to. Recently, Cena launched a campaign to promote the use of sunscreen. The wrestler has revealed that he has been diagnosed twice with skin cancer.

According to the wrestler, he never wore sunscreen while growing up in Massachusetts. Cena continued to neglect protecting his skin when he moved to Florida, where he “fell in love with the sun.”

“I was stubborn. I didn’t want to have a routine, and I also thought the problem would never reach me,” said Cena.

Cena stated that it was not until he started seeing a dermatologist that he began to rethink his attitude. Since then, the wrestler has had two cancerous spots removed.

“It wasn’t until I went to a dermatologist and got a skin checkup and had a cancerous spot removed from my right pec. I was very lucky to have a great dermatologist who kind of, I guess for lack of a better term, held me by the hand and let me know that I wasn’t alone,” said Cena.
