False rumors that Brigitte Macron, the wife of French President Emmanuel Macron, is transgender have been spreading for years. Candace Owens is reigniting the flame with new video clips.

These alleged transphobic and baseless claims, which suggest she was born a man and transitioned to become a woman, have been repeatedly debunked.
However, they gained renewed attention recently when far-right American commentator Candace Owens published clips (Becoming Brigitte), in which she revived the conspiracy theory to millions of viewers, garnering widespread attention.

Noted here, Owens’ video reignites the baseless claim that Brigitte Macron was once a man named Jean-Michel Trogneux. In the video, Owens also asserts that she has faced legal threats from French President Emmanuel Macron due to her statements, though this allegation lacks any supporting evidence. In short, there is no credible proof to back up these alleged claims making their rounds online.
Despite the absence of evidence, Owens declares, “When I said that I would stake my entire professional career on the fact that Brigitte Macron was born a man, there were many people of course who did not believe me because that just sounds crazy.”
Reddit threads (like this one) have also emerged recently to discuss Candace’s latest allegations. Here’s what some users had to say about it:
“Candace Owens has staked her entire professional reputation on this issue, and the results are fairly wacky”
“Does she believe this nonsense or aiming for clicks. I genuinely can’t tell with her.”
This has also called into question other alleged transgender rumors that have been floating around for years, with previous claims surrounding Lady Gaga and Michelle Obama being transgender- again, these are all rumors, and there is no evidence to back up these claims.

This kind of rhetoric feeds into the rise of unfounded conspiracy theories often promoted by far-right figures, targeting public individuals without factual support. The rumor has been debunked repeatedly over the years, including by Brigitte Macron herself, yet the conspiracy continues to gain attention in some online circles.
This persistence seemingly highlights the dangers of misinformation and underscores how social media can amplify unsubstantiated claims, damaging reputations and promoting harmful ideologies.
