Rumored Relationship with Ed Sheeran and Cheating Scandal Affected Her Mental Health.

9 years ago, in 2014, rumors were saying that Ellie Goulding had cheated on Ed Sheeran with Niall Horan although the singer… never dated Ed Sheeran.

In a recent interview for DailyMail, Goulding opened up about the mental stress she had undergone as a result of the cheating scandal. ‘You know, completely honestly, it caused me a huge amount of… stress is not the word. It caused me a lot of trauma, actually,” she said.

Looking back, the ”Love Me Like You Do” singer envies the experiences her friends had as young adults. “I envy the fact that my friends just spent their 20s having flings and one-night stands and what every 20-something goes through in private. But every single thing I did was written about,” she told the outlet.

A few months ago, Ellie posted a TikTok to which another TikTok user commented ”Can’t believe u cheated on Ed with Niall, but slay fr (for real).” The singer, 36, quickly responded, “False!!!!! But also slay.” She later confessed to DailyMail that she was drunk when she wrote the comment, as mentioned here.

In 2016, Ellie opened up about the kind of relationship she had with Ed Sheeran and addressed the rumors that her song ”On My Mind” was about him. “We’ve known each other for a few years. I think he’s a really nice guy and a brilliant musician. We’ve bumped into each other and we’ve hung out and stuff, but the thing is if I hang out with someone, it’s instantly like I’m “dating” them (noted here). We were never in a relationship (noted here). My song is not about him,” she said.

As for Niall Horan, the ”Burn” singer mentioned they went on a few dates, but they had never been in a relationship. “We’re still friends. We went on a few dates, and it was really fun. He’s a really, really lovely guy. He’s got the biggest sense of humor, he’s very caring, and I see him as a genuine friend in the industry,” she said mentioned here.
