Lori Harvey posted a TikTok outlining how she achieved her toned physique after gaining 15 pounds of “relationship weight.”

Harvey explained on TikTok that ever since she started seeing Michael B. Jordan her clothes fit tighter. Eventually she couldn’t fit into them and realized that she needed to concentrate on her fitness.

Fitness Routine & Diet

When losing the “relationship weight” became Harvey’s priority, she made time to work out nearly every day. She says that she’s been very consistent this year when it comes to Pilates and that she visits the gym five to six times a week. She even revealed that sometimes after her Pilates she does a second workout that involves some form of cardio. For cardio she enjoys, sprint interval training, hikes, and running the stairs.

Harvey also limited her caloric intake to 1,200 calories a day. She explained that she avoids carbs and predominantly eats meats and vegetables. Staying within a “calorie deficit”, in addition to physical activity is the influencer’s secret to toned abs.

Harvey spoke to ESSENCE at the 2022 Met Gala and attributed her incredible physique to Pilates. She says the workout changed her life, but that “Pilates alone is not going to make you lose weight, it’s just going to give you long, lean muscles.”

Twitter Backlash

Following the 2022 Met Gala, fans of Harvey wanted to know how she attained her body. However, as soon as she shared her routine, she was shamed for being “fatphobic” and some Twitter users even diagnosed her with an eating disorder. While some came to her defence, many believed that Harvey’s goals were extreme and that she was recommending harmful weight-loss tips. Harvey was quick to reply to the Twitter trolls on her own viral TikTok, “before y’all start … this is what worked for me and MY body… everyone is different so tailor your needs to meet your goals.” Harvey wasn’t forcing anyone to do anything, she simply shared what she did because she was asked to.

Of course, everyone should do what they need to do to be healthy and comfortable and if that’s seeking out fitness experts and official nutritionists, go right ahead! Lori Harvey is an influencer after all. You can’t blame her for sharing a facet of her life that fans asked her to share. You know what they say, don’t hate the player, hate the game!
