Bieber’s first skincare brand, Rhode, has finally launched on Wednesday with a selected, affordable product line targeted at protecting the skin’s barrier. It started with an Instagram post of her glowing skin earlier this year and has become one of the year’s biggest beauty trends.
Hailey Bieber, a 25-year-old model, and skincare creator who describes herself as a skincare fanatic say she “always dreamed of” starting her own line but didn’t get serious about planning and conceiving until the pandemic. Bieber’s journey to Rhode, her much-anticipated debut into the skincare sector, has been long. Here is everything you need to know about her New Line Rhode Skin:
Bieber chose to focus on hydration for the first launch. Bieber embraces her mom and grandmother, both of whom she shares the middle name Rhode, as important influences on the line. Growing up, her family emphasized to her the value of self-care and even inspired Bieber with her love of hydration.
Her obsession with skincare intensified as she grew older, and after constantly being asked what she used on her skin, she felt a skin-care brand would be the best next step. During the pandemic, she engaged herself in the skin-care field, both behind the scenes and on social media, engaging with specialists like Dr. Barbara Sturm on Instagram Live.
From the formulations to the brand’s appearance, Bieber had a strong vision. The two most important things are her obsession with the formulas and ingredients, and the brand’s aesthetic. She wanted to bring that easy, casual, sporty, chic, editorial vibe to a skin-care beauty brand.
What is Rhode?
Rhode is a carefully curated collection of skincare essentials. It’s a daily regimen that nourishes your skin barrier over time, and it’s developed with high-performance components for a variety of skin types and needs. The latest celebrity beauty line focuses on skin barrier protection and strengthening according to the brand’s website.
According to Rhode’s Instagram, the ‘edited’, ‘efficacious’, and ‘intentional’ lineup include – Rhode’s deliberate selection of three products:
Barrier Repair Cream, a nourishing moisturizer
Barrier Restore Cream is a thick reparative cream that is designed to soothe, calm, and repair the skin. Many of the same chemicals as the Glazing Fluid are present, such as peptides and niacinamide. Shea butter softens and moisturizes, squalene soothes and hydrates, and acai protects against free radicals. The cream can be used on its own, but Bieber says it was designed to be used in combination with the serum.
Peptide Glazing Fluid, a “dewy glow in a bottle”
The Peptide Glazing Fluid, a moisturizing serum Bieber describes as a “dewy glow in a bottle,” is the brand’s most special item. As the name suggests, it contains peptides to plump skin and smooth wrinkles, hyaluronic acid to hydrate, marula oil to restore the barrier, and niacinamide to improve texture and tone. It’s a gel-serum with a “unique, distinct, beautiful texture,” according to Bieber.
Peptide Lip Balm
The Peptide Lip Treatment from Rhode’s is a thick, glossy balm that makes lips plumper and softer. “It’s a fantastic layer for sealing in moisture, especially if you sleep with it on,” according to Bieber. The balm comes in three flavors: watermelon slice, salted caramel, and unscented. It hydrates with peptides, shea butter, and extracts of cupuacu and babassu. The texture is luxurious and pillowy, with a beautiful shine.
Each product costs less than $30 and can be shopped at the brand’s newly launched website.
