The highly anticipated SHEIN x Marika Sila Collection launched on May 31, marking a groundbreaking collaboration between SHEIN and influential Inuvialuk actress and activist Marika Sila.

This unique collection combines Marika’s distinctive personal style and Indigenous heritage with SHEIN’s renowned versatility, the collection features an array of women’s apparel, sportswear from the GLOWMODE line, and eco-conscious pieces from the evoluSHEIN by Design collection. Designed to empower individuals to express their unique identities with confidence, the collection also emphasizes the importance of giving back, with a portion of the proceeds supporting Indigenous youth programs. We spoke with Marika to learn more about the collection and the inspiration behind it.

What inspired you to collaborate with SHEIN for this collection?

I am passionate about giving back to the Indigenous community, so when SHEIN reached out to me I was so happy when they said they would donate 10% of the revenue to my charity of choice! It was not just about creating the collection, to me – it was important to make a difference in the lives of Indigenous youth.

How does the SHEIN x Marika Sila Collection reflect your personal style and values?

I worked closely with the SHEIN team to create looks that I feel confident in, and that reflects my personal style. Also, one of my biggest values is giving back in any way that I can, whether it is by providing value to my audience, educating, inspiring or raising money to help in charitable ways. This collection is helping me raise awareness about the work that I am doing, and giving back to the community through charity!

What was your primary goal in creating this collection, and do you feel it has been achieved?

I do feel like we have achieved it! I care to be as green as I can, so my primary goal was to find as many items from the EvoluSHEIN collection (a collection within SHEIN that is made from recycled materials) to develop looks I would genuinely feel confident wearing. Together, we have curated fashionable looks that contribute to a more sustainable future. The result is a collection that is more eco- friendly, which gives back to the community and also reflects my personality and active lifestyle!

Can you elaborate on the significance of including eco-conscious pieces in this collection?

Including eco-conscious pieces from the evoluSHEIN by Design collection was important for me in creating this collection. These pieces meet an “evoluSHEIN Standard”, requiring that they be produced with at least 30% preferred materials like recycled polyester, rescued material, and forest-safe viscose manufactured by suppliers that have achieved high social compliance verified by third-party audit. On top of that, these products are shipped with packaging made with more sustainable recycled content, and sourced from suppliers who have attained high levels of social compliance, verified by third-party audits.
