Mariah Carey has officially addressed the passing of her mother and sister, weeks after her first and only statement to PEOPLE regarding their deaths.

September 9, 2024- Mariah Carey has recently come forward on her social media to address the “couple of rough weeks” following the unexpected deaths of her mother, Patricia, and sister, Alison.

On September 8th, Carey took to her Instagram to share a video of her singing alongside her pianist.

“Back at work. It’s been a couple of rough weeks, but I appreciate everyone’s love and support so much and I can’t wait to see my fans in China and Brazil. Love you,” Carey wrote.

Carey’s fans flooded the comments under the post to wish Carey their best and that they are excited for her upcoming performances.

One Instagram user wrote, “Welcome back, MIMI. We love you!”

Another user wrote, “Sending you so much love Mimi. Brazil will be there for you and we can’t wait for this concert.”

“My heart is broken that I’ve lost my mother this past weekend. Sadly, in a tragic turn of events, my sister lost her life on the same day,” Carey exclusively informed PEOPLE.

“We belong together,” Cannon told E! News.

In a more recent interview, Cannon told PEOPLE that he missed his window to try and get Carey back.

“Yes, she don’t want me. She’s moved on from my crazy antics,” Cannon told PEOPLE.
