Selena Gomez wants the rumours surrounding her cosmetic procedures to stop.
July 29, 2024- Selena Gomez is putting an end to the rumours surrounding her appearance after replying to a TikTok user who speculated that she had cosmetic surgery.

TikTok creator Marissa Barrionuevo, a plastic surgeon assistant from Florida, posted a video about Gomez back in 2023.

Barrionuevo’s platform surrounds cosmetic procedure content and will sometimes speculate on which celebrities have had surgical work done.
However, with the TikTok posted in 2023 about Gomez, it appears that Barrionuevo was merely suggesting that the change in Gomez’s appearance could be due to her lupus diagnosis.
“I literally have no idea what she has gotten done. I think she has been through so much in her life, especially medically related, so I don’t think it’s fair to speculate whether or not she has gotten cosmetic things done,” Barrionuevo said.
“I don’t know what to attribute these changes to – people say lupus, people say other things. At the end of the day, let’s just leave her be, she’s been through enough in her life and I think she’s beautiful regardless,” Barrionuevo continued.
Although this TikTok was posted in 2023, Gomez responded to it on July 27th, 2024.
Gomez replied in the comments, “Honestly, I hate this. I was on stripes because of flare up. I have Botox. That’s it. Leave me alone.”
Shortly after, Barrionuevo posted another TikTok in response to Gomez.

“I really hope Selena Gomez does not hate me,” Barrionuevo said. “I am sorry if that made you feel any sort of way. I adore you.”
Barrionuevo went on to explain how she personally likes to talk to her audience about her own experience with cosmetic procedures and how she is only trying to normalize the topic.
Gomez replied to the TikTok saying, “I love you. Not about you. I just get sad sometimes.”

According to TODAY, Gomez first spoke about her lupus diagnosis in a 2015 interview with Billboard.
Gomez, as a result of lupus, also underwent a kidney transplant in 2017.
The National Institutes of Health says that lupus occurs when the immune system attacks its own tissues.
