From award-winning taste to sea-inspired design, Viña Esmeralda proves wine can be both elegant and good for the planet

Some wines are simply sipped, while others are experienced. Viña Esmeralda is the Mediterranean jewel that has long captivated wine lovers abroad – and has finally landed in limited release at the LCBO. More than a beautiful bottle, it embodies a philosophy of giving back to the very sea that inspires it, blending style, sustainability, and substance into one luminous sip.

Inspired by the Mediterranean

Every glass of Viña Esmeralda feels like an invitation to the coast—sunlit terraces, salty breezes, and evenings that linger long after sunset. Authentically Mediterranean, she was born at Mas Flassada, a 14th-century Catalan estate where centuries-old vineyards meet the rhythm of the sea, the wines balance freshness, fragrance, and elegance.

The new design draws directly from its muse: the turquoise hues of Mediterranean waters and the artistry of coastal culture. It’s wine as both a fashion statement and cultural passport.

The Sea That Inspires – and Needs Protecting

Viña Esmeralda pairs beauty with purpose, proving that a wine can be as thoughtful as it is stylish. From its luminous turquoise bottle to the perfume of its grapes, the brand radiates elegance—but what makes it truly remarkable is its commitment to protecting the very sea that inspires it.

For Viña Esmeralda, sustainability isn’t an afterthought—it’s woven into its identity. The Mediterranean is more than a muse; it’s a responsibility. Since 2022, the brand has partnered with Gravity Wave to collect and repurpose marine plastic—over 40 tonnes so far. In 2024, it joined the Save the Posidonia Project in Formentera, sponsoring a total of 20,000 square meters in 2024 and 2025 combined of vital seagrass meadows that give the sea its emerald glow and act as “the lungs of the Mediterranean.”

Posidonia oceanica meadows produce oxygen, store blue carbon, protect coastlines, and give the sea its luminous emerald color—the very shade that inspired Viña Esmeralda’s iconic bottle design. It is the Mediterranean’s best-kept secret and needs protecting. Vital projects like Save the Posidonia aim to protect and restore these vital ecosystems, ensuring their magic lives on for generations.

It’s a reminder that every glass of Viña Esmeralda poured isn’t just a toast to beauty—it’s a toast to biodiversity, sustainability, and a sea that connects us all. Each sip becomes a conscious choice, a way to indulge in glamour while contributing to the preservation of an irreplaceable ecosystem. In a world where luxury often comes at a cost, Viña Esmeralda stands out by giving back—making every glass a toast to both pleasure and purpose.

Made for the Mediterranean Table

At its heart, Viña Esmeralda is defined by Moscatel, a grape that speaks the language of the Mediterranean. Fragrant with orange blossom, white peach, and a touch of honey, it’s light, expressive, and effortlessly inviting—like a sea breeze captured in a glass.

Moscatel doesn’t just shine on its own—it comes alive at the table. Picture it with oysters on crushed ice at golden hour, or alongside a mezze spread of citrus-marinated olives and grilled octopus. It pairs beautifully with a tomato and burrata salad, where freshness meets richness, or with soft cheeses at a sunset picnic by the lake.

Each pairing feels like a cultural experience, connecting the grape’s luminous charm to the flavors, traditions, and gatherings that define life by the sea. Viña Esmeralda’s Moscatel isn’t just a wine—it’s a Mediterranean invitation in every sip.
