Bogeyman Bingo (a clever skill check of math abilities)

This game can be played in the dark with glow-in-the-dark ink that brings out the apparitions and highlights the bogeyman when you win. 

• Step 1: Like regular Bingo, students will now have to solve math (or algebraic) problems to know what number (algebraic answer) to strike off their page. 
• Step 2: Make a list of 50 math problems and write the answers on the same page. 
• Step 3: Create 5X5 bingo cards. Provide a Math Bingo Card for each participant playing. Use wrapped candies/chocolates (that are not being given to trick or treaters), or coins (pennies, dimes, nickels), to mark their answers.
• Step 4: Randomly write answers to cards using solutions from the 50 math problems list.
• Step 5: Evaluate the results and identify areas for improvement the next time you play.

Graveyard Math Games (a spooky indoor/outdoor math test)

This game can be played both indoors and outdoors. Create a creative graveyard using gray/black coloured pieces of paper. Using Chalk, scratch out a number from 1 to 9 on each piece of paper/tombstone and use the tombstone to test the child’s multiplication skills. Children hop from tombstone to tombstone, and each number they land on requires them to run through the multiplication table for that particular number from 1 up to 12.

Bouncing Pumpkin with Black Banshees

Cover a Pumpkin style beach ball with numbers using either stickers of numbers or permanent marker ink. One player can pitch the inflated pumpkin to another player and have them call out the number using their most blood-curdling cry for haunting effect. They throw the ball to the next player, who does the same and they add their own number to the first one on the list. When done, review all of your numbers, identify when you earned the highest cumulative sum as a group. Now, reward everyone who played the game with that many smarties to celebrate!

Twister Typhoon Math

For this game, you’ll want to dig up an old game of Twister that you can decorate with seasonal colours, labels, shapes, and images. Create a series of labels with numbers, Halloween images, or coins and place them all onto the circles of your Twister mat. Give each player in turn an equation, a description of a Halloween image, or an amount of money. Based on where the spinner lands, each student places his or her hand or foot on the result. If the result is one of the equations, the player must quickly test their skills to get the result. If the result lands on an amount of money, they get to cash in. 5. Keep going by following all of the standard rules of Twister and enjoy the good times! The last player left on the mat is the winner.

Brain Tickler

Use a good mix of integers, decimals, and fractions to create a little competition among the students. Test each of their abilities to identify the answers to math problems as part of a nightly routine. This is a great way to test the brain and keep your child using the skills they learn in class for practical reasons.
