World Egg Day is right around the corner!
Egg-citing news- October 8th is World Egg Day! This year, Canadian egg farmers and chefs are teaming up to pay tribute to the classic refrigerator staple and the 25th anniversary of this upcoming celebration with some must-try recipes.
In order to pay homage to this special occasion, and celebrate its global nature, Egg Farmers of Canada has partnered with Chef Josh Gale, Chef Craig Flinn, Chef Kimberly Lallouz, Chef Thea VanHerwaarden, and cooking expert Vijaya Selvaraju to create unique egg dishes, all inspired by their travels and cultural heritage. Check out the delicious recipes down below and how these culinary experts incorporated eggs into their world-class dishes!
Chef Josh Gale
Motivated by his love of Italian cuisine, Chef Josh Gale’s spaghetti carbonara recipe with a poached egg is delicious- plus, it’s a quick and easy dish to make that the whole family will enjoy.
Chef Craig Flinn
Chef Craig was inspired by the pronounced flavours of Catalonia when he developed this ragout while hosting a culinary tour in Europe. This dish is full of colour, simple ingredients, and warm flavours- perfect for enjoying on a crisp, fall day.
Chef Kimberly Lallouz
Chef Kimberly developed this comforting soup to enjoy on a chilly afternoon or evening. She took inspiration from the rich flavours of Portugal and Morocco when creating this dish, which is chock full of flavour and protein, thoughtfully combining fresh herbs, veggies, and the star of the show- eggs.
Chef Thea VanHerwaarden
Inspired by her German heritage, Chef Thea VanHerwaarden’s mushroom spaetzle recipe is the perfect comfort recipe. Topped with a runny, poached egg, this flavourful dish will be a new family favourite.
This delectable recipe by Vijaya is packed full of flavour. Her Masala French Toast recipe is a savoury dish that is perfect for breakfast or lunch.
