The singer Doja Cat revealed her next LP wrapped in a simple French message: “L’album est complet.”
July 23, 2025: Doja Cat has officially finished recording her much-anticipated new album, Vie, breaking the news in an Instagram/X post written entirely in French: “L’album est complet,” meaning “The album is complete.” She cheekily added a croissant emoji, confirming that the work is done.
A Return to Pop with Depth and Intention
Although Doja previously declared she was “done with pop music,” her forthcoming album marks a clear artistic U-turn. In a July interview, she described Vie as a “pop-driven project” deeply focused on themes like love, romance, sex, and self-relationship—though she’ll still deliver plenty of rap verses. She acknowledged that some critics view pop as a superficial genre, but insisted: “I know I can make pop music… pop is just that—it’s popular.”
Doja emphasized that this album reflects hopefulness for relationships, painting love not as cynicism but as possibility. She admitted there is only one breakup-themed track; the rest tends toward optimism and desire.
Vie Will Arrive This Fall
Scheduled for release later in 2025, Vie is Doja Cat’s first album since the critically bold Scarlet in 2023. That LP broke boundaries with its intense rap, jazz, and R&B elements. Vie, by contrast, promises an ’80s-inflected, polished pop sound with a modern twist—crafted with keen attention to vocal performance and sonic detail.
