Following the tragic death of the former  Harry Potter series star actors from the series paid their respects.

Robbie Coltrane, the iconic comedian/actor whose face is recognizable across the globe from his role as Rubeus Hagrid in the Harry Potter series died at the age of 72. For his former colleagues and Harry Potter fans his death was incredibly tragic. Many of his former screen mates posted on social media to commemorate Robbie after his passing.

The official Harry Potter Twitter account released a heartfelt memorial for Coltrane on their page on October 14th, 2022. Representing the fans and the official  Harry Potter organization,  this tweet expressed the grief Harry Potter fans shared over Coltrane’s passing.

Bonnie Wright, famous for her role as Ginny Weasley in the Harry Potter series, released this tweet sharing her grief and well wishes on the passing of her friend and castmate.

Tom Felton, one of the original child actors from the Harry Potter series who played Draco Malfoy, shared his memories of Coltrane on his Twitter.

Emma Watson:

While Emma did not post on Twitter about her former co-star, she shared her thoughts and memories in a series of lengthy Instagram stories.

“Rest In Peace, Robbie Coltrane. Robbie was like the most fun uncle I’ve ever had but most of all he was deeply caring, and compassionate towards me as a child and an adult…His talent was so immense it made sense he played a giant – he could fill ANY space with his brilliance…Robbie, if I ever get to be so kind as you were to me on a film set I promise I’ll do it in your name and memory.”

Daniel Radcliffe:

Daniel Radcliffe, the actor that played the series namesake in the Harry Potter Series, released a statement following the death of his former castmate and friend.

“Robbie was one of the funniest people I’ve met and used to keep us laughing constantly as kids on the set,” Radcliffe’s statement reads. “I’ve especially fond memories of him keeping our spirits up on ‘Prisoner of Azkaban,’ when we were all hiding from the torrential rain for hours in Hagrid’s hut and he was telling stories and cracking jokes to keep morale up. I feel incredibly lucky that I got to meet and work with him and very sad that he’s passed. He was an incredible actor and a lovely man.”

Grint, the actor who played Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter Series, released an Instagram post in honour of Coltrane. he captioned the post: “Heartbroken to hear that Robbie is gone,” Grint captioned the Instagram post shared over the weekend. “I’ll never forget the smell of cigars and beard glue – a wonderful combination. No one else on this planet could [have] played Hagrid, only Robbie… A giant hearted man who was still looking out for us even decades later. Sending love to his family. See you on the other side Bobser.”
