Over the last 18 months, there has been a shift in our morning routines with Canadians choosing to have their breakfast at home versus on the go. In fact, 90% of breakfast occasions are now occurring at home.

All the while, plant-based proteins are on the rise in Canada. Since 2019, the industry has grown by 54% in Canada and now 40% of Canadians are reported to eat plant-based in addition to animal meat, following more of a ‘flexitarian’ diet.

As Canadians look to incorporate more plant-based products into their diet, many are still unsure about how to cook with them and breakfast appears to be the last frontier with its recent resurgence. So what do you serve at home for breakfast for the family looking to eat more ‘flexitarian’ and looking to serve plant-based protein at breakfast?

Beyond Meat has launched their Beyond Breakfast Sausage Links, their first retail breakfast product available in Canada. These plant-based sausages contain 12g of protein per serving, have 35% less sodium than the leading brand of pork sausage and are now available in major retailers across Canada.
